Bixolon XD5-40T
The Bixolon XD5-40T is a 4-inch label printer that supports both thermal transfer and direct thermal printing. Crucially, thermal transfer uses a ribbon to fuse the image onto the label, which produces durable, long-lasting prints that resist heat, light and abrasion.
Overview
The XD5-40T prints at 203 dpi and up to 6 ips (152 mm/sec). Because it takes ribbons up to 110 mm wide (300 m length, 25.4 mm core), it can print hard-wearing labels such as asset tags and product labels that must stay legible for years. It also accepts media from 15 to 118 mm wide on rolls up to 127 mm, backed by 64 MB SDRAM and 128 MB Flash.
Best Suited For
- Asset tagging and product labels — thermal transfer output resists fading, heat and rubbing.
- Mixed labelling needs — the XD5-40T also runs in direct thermal mode for short-life labels.
- Wider media work — 15–118 mm width covers a broad range of label jobs.
